Safe Places Shropshire was invited to take part in an event being organised by Home Instead Senior Care at Newport on 19th October. The event showcased Dementia Awareness and the organisations that could assist in living with dementia.
These organisations included:
- Admiral Nurses who support those living with dementia,
- PALZ (Professionals with Alzheimer’s), which is a charity set up to support professional people who have developed dementia,
- Newport Cottage Care Centre,
- Parkinson’s UK,
- Clarkes Solicitors,
- Age UK.
Our volunteers spoke to a large number of visitors to the event and handed out information and Safe Places cards.
We were approached by several of the organisations present who wished to sign up their premises as Safe Places.
We now are lined up to work with
- Sanctuary Housing at Lawley Bank Court, Lawley
- Talking Newspapers
- Community Cafe, Church Aston
- Newport Cottage Care Centre
Everyone involved in this event felt it was a useful opportunity to alert the public to the support available to them.
