Hello and welcome to the Safe Places Shropshire website.

My name is Ann.  I have been involved with Safe Places Shropshire since 2013, when I helped to set up the initiative in our communities in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.  At that time, I worked with West Mercia Police as their Equality and Diversity Advisor for both areas.  I saw immediately the potential this scheme could have to help those in our communities who are vulnerable.

Together with Ruby and our worthy volunteers, we have increased the spread of Safe Places. In 2020 to 2022 many businesses and organisations were affected by Covid. During that time, we lost over 100 of our Safe Places due to places closing down, proprietors retiring and/or change of ownership. During 2023 and 2024, we were out once again spreading the word and signing up new premises, whilst checking on those that have been signed up from the beginning.  We are now back to the number of Safe Places in Shropshire to pre-Covid figures.

I believe that we have made Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin a safer place for everyone in our areas.  Vulnerable people and their friends, family and carers know that there is a safe haven if they need one; a place that they will be treated with respect and assisted by staff.

To help Safe Places Shropshire raise much needed money, we also take part in Table Top sales. So if you see us, please come to our pitch and say “hello” .
