Parents Opening Doors (PODS) is a Parent Carer charity that gives and represents the supporting voices of families with children and young people with an additional needs and disabilities. There are some paid staff but also have volunteers who work with the ages 0-25 years across Telford and Wrekin.
PODS work with a wide range of services including health, education, social care. Work is carried out alongside voluntary sector partners both at a local level as well as regional and national level. They are members of the National Network of Parent Carer Forum.
PODS has a specific set of aims, that are designed to improve the health and wellbeing of those within the community it supports, as well as bringing about positive change and acceptance for future generations.
To provide emotional, practical, and social support.
To help reduce isolation and increase well-being.
o provide an opportunity to participate in joint decision making on services.
To provide information to help increase knowledge of the SEND reforms and legislation.
To improve and influence those services affecting these families.
The facilities at PODS includes a Sensory Room, Kitchen, Games Room, Meeting tooms as well as offices enabling the operation of this charity.
Note: Many activities are arranged weekly both in school term time and holidays so they may not always be open at the times noted on this website as activities take place in a number of different locations.
