In 2023, Safe Places Shropshire joined with A Good Thing which is an award-winning UK non-profit charity making it easier than ever for charities to access useful donations — while helping businesses reduce waste and do something good. It saves many items going to landfill enabling them to be put to good use in communities that need them. Businesses donate items to ” Good Thing” so that organisations like Safe Places Shropshire can put in a request for items, saying how they will be used. If chosen goods are posted or collection arranged. Some items can be sold to raise funds, other items cannot be sold.
Why do businesses donate items? It could be due to an organisation is relocating or closing down or it could be “end of lines” or some other reason. We have been fortunate to receive lanyards, plastic badge covers and lego. We have also received a pigeon hole cupboard that is very useful for storing our leaflets and very handy when putting our welcome packs together. Safe Places Shropshire are very appreciative to doners.
