Cuan Wildlife Rescue Charity Shop (Shrewsbury)

Cuan Wildlife Rescue is a registered charity that started in 1990. It is dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned wild animals and birds. Over the years, the charity has grown, having purpose-built facilities to meet the needs of any wildlife casualty that may need care. Often the charity has appeal funds for a particular project that is needed. They are the only wildlife rescue centre in Shropshire.

As well as looking after the county’s wild creatures, they also aim to:

• Educate of the public in the care and rehabilitation of wildlife
• Undertake research and advise other organisations in the field of wildlife rehabilitation
• Their primary goal is always to give the creatures a second chance at life and if possible adults will return them to the area they were found as they know the area and may have mates to go back to.

Each year, they admit around 6,000 wildlife casualties. On admission, every patient receives immediate first aid such as pain relief, treatment for shock, fluid therapy, wound management or antibiotics. Some then have further veterinary treatment.

Cuan Wildlife Rescue needs a steady steam of income to provide for the wildlife taken into care. To help raise funds they have two charity shops, one is located in Shrewsbury and the other in Much Wenlock. They sell CD's, books, bric-a-brac, good quality clothing, trainers plus their charity merchandise.

Both of Shrewsbury and Much Wenlock shops also sell items on e-Bay.
